Sample drop day. Two client presentations. One site visit where everything had changed since the last one. A week in the life of a small design studio in spring — which is to say, controlled chaos.
Monday
The samples arrived on Monday morning — fourteen linen swatches, three stone panels, and a set of hardware we'd been waiting on for six weeks. We spent the first two hours of the day in natural light, laying things next to each other, photographing them, eliminating three quarters of them. This is the part of the process that doesn't look like design but is entirely design.
Wednesday
Site visit to the Newnan project. The contractor had made a decision about the ceiling height we hadn't approved. It's not a disaster — actually it might be better — but it means the lighting plan needs to be revisited. This is the rhythm of construction: you plan for what you know, and then you respond to what you find.
